Repair an underfloor heating system in London

This was an interesting job. We were asked to repair an underfloor heating system in London that hadn’t been installed correctly. The system was only two years old and had never worked correctly. The company that installed it had gone out of business, other plumbers had been called out before us and all had either walked away, or had attempted to fix the system without success (one made it worse).

Once we re-fitted the pipework correctly, and flushed out the system, the boiler could function within the proper it was supposed to and keep the heating t a comfortable level,

One last issue was that we replaced the flue so that it exited out of the roof, rather than into a space between the houses. You’ll notice front he picture above that it was sealed in very carefully. The owner, who was in the roof flashing trade, was skeptical that we could do this effectively but in the end had the highest praise for how we finished off the roofing and the seal between the flue and the roof.

His wife was incredibly grateful to have a warm house and properly warm baths for the first time in two years. There are heating firms out there that will quote a superb bargain. Dormitory hot water system upgrade

Boston University from Massachusetts has a satellite campus in London with dormitories that can require heating up to 2000 litres of hot water at a time in as little as 30 minutes to be able to serve 76 showers.

The previous system had become unreliable, was inefficient, and was beginning to cost the university increasing maintenance costs, energy costs, and brand impact from inconsistent creature comforts expected from one of the top universities in the world.

We replaced the entire hot water system with a new storage, heating, and delivery system including water softeners that were reliable, quicker and did all this whilst utilising less energy, thus reducing energy costs and increasing the system’s efficiency.

The Byzantine nature of the ancient plumbing meant we had to dig out old plans to identify the source of some of the system’s deficiencies. This notwithstanding, we were directed to decommission and remove the old system and install the new system during the winter term break. This meant we had one month to complete all the works and that it had to work correctly; nothing else was acceptable.

We were able to completely refit the system, re-plumb into the dormitories and initiate the system controls, tuned to the appropriate schedules and heating levels by the time the students returned for the new term.

We also know where the Queens Gate borough split between the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster borough is so we would not be adding unnecessary car parking charges to your bill.
